Retirement Income Planning in New Braunfels

We lay out every source of retirement income you have, put a start date on each one, and show you where the gaps are. You leave with a written timeline, plain options to close those gaps, and a clear idea of what happens next and when.

What Retirement Income Planning Means Here

It comes down to one question. When the paychecks stop, what money shows up each month, and from where? We sit down with you and list every source: Social Security, any pension, savings and retirement accounts, and insurance-based tools like annuities or the cash value in a whole life policy.

Then we put dates on it. Which income starts at 62, which waits until 67, and what covers the months in between. Most people have a rough idea. Very few have it written down by month and year. That written timeline is what you get from us, and it is what we check back against when your plans shift.

This is a good fit if you are five to fifteen years from retiring, or already retired and the numbers feel loose. If part of your question belongs with a tax preparer or an investment adviser, we will say so plainly instead of guessing.

What the Planning Covers

A full income inventory
We list every dollar you expect in retirement, what it depends on, and the earliest and latest date it can start. Nothing gets left out because it seemed small.
A year-by-year gap check
We line up income against what you expect to spend, one year at a time. The early years before Social Security or a pension kicks in are where most shortfalls hide.
Annuity options, explained straight
If an annuity makes sense, we walk through fixed and fixed indexed types, surrender periods, and what you give up in access to your money. You see the tradeoffs before any paperwork.
Protection for a spouse
We look at what your spouse would still receive if you died first. That includes pension survivor elections and whether a term life or whole life policy should cover the drop in income.
A written timeline
You get the plan on paper, with dates. It shows what to file, what to sign, and roughly when each piece needs to happen.

Signs It Is Time to Plan Your Retirement Income

  • You can't say when income starts

You know your last workday but not the month your first retirement check lands. That gap can run longer than people expect.

  • A pension election form is waiting

Single-life or joint-and-survivor is usually a one-time choice. It is worth checking the numbers before you sign it.

  • Savings with no withdrawal plan

You have money set aside but no idea how much you can safely take each year, or in what order to draw from each account.

  • Someone pitched you an annuity

If you can't explain the surrender charge or the income rider fee back to the person who sold it, get a second look first.

  • Your retirement date moved

An early buyout, a health change or a spouse retiring first throws off every date in the plan. The plan should move with it.

What Affects the Cost

We don't charge for the planning review itself. If you decide on an annuity or a life insurance policy, the cost lives in that product: premiums, rider fees or surrender terms. These are the things that move it most.

Your age and timing

How old you are when you buy, and how long until income needs to start, shapes annuity payouts and life insurance premiums alike.

How much goes in, and when

A single lump sum works differently from payments spread over several years. Each changes what comes back out.

Product type and riders

Income riders and other add-ons carry their own fees. We show you each one so you can decide if it earns its keep.

Your health

For life insurance used to protect a spouse's income, underwriting looks at your health. Better health usually means lower premiums.

How We Work, Start to Finish

  1. 1

    The first call

We ask your target retirement date and what is on your mind. Then we set a meeting time that fits your week and tell you what to have ready.

  2. 2

    The review meeting

Bring your Social Security statement, any pension estimate, recent account statements and current policies. Plan on an hour or so. We meet in person or by phone, whichever suits you.

  3. 3

    Your written plan

We tell you the day you will have your timeline and options, and we keep to it. If something takes longer, you hear from us before that day, not after.

  4. 4

    Applications and follow-up

If you choose an annuity or a policy, carrier processing times vary. We give you a realistic estimate up front and call with updates as it moves. After that, we check in when your plans change.

Retirement Income Planning Questions

Do I need a lot saved to make this worth it?

No. Some of the most useful plans we write are for people living mainly on Social Security and a small pension. Getting the start dates and survivor choices right matters at every savings level.

How long does it take from first call to a finished plan?

It depends on how quickly you can gather your statements. Once we have them, we give you a firm date for your written plan. If you buy a product, carrier processing adds its own time, and we tell you our honest estimate before you apply.

Will you tell me to put everything into an annuity?

No. An annuity can cover a specific gap, like the years before your pension starts. Putting all your money in one usually ties up cash you may need. We show you where it fits and where it doesn't.

What if my retirement date changes after the plan is done?

Call us and we redo the dates. A moved retirement date changes when income needs to start and can change which option makes sense. We would rather update the plan than have you work from an old one.

I live in Seguin. Is that too far for a meeting?

Not at all. Plenty of the people we plan for live in nearby towns like Seguin, Schertz and San Marcos. Many reviews happen over the phone anyway, and when you would rather sit down face to face, we pick a time and place that works for both of us.
